Lisë Landis Hopson (Director, Choreographer, Vocal Director) is Coleman’s music teacher, Chorus conductor, and theatre director. Currently she is directing “Hello, Dolly!”, her 41st Coleman musical. Past shows that she has directed and choreographed here include “Meet Me in St. Louis”, “Once Upon a Mattress”, “The Boy Friend”, The Secret Garden, The Phantom of the Opera, Cinderella, Little Women, High School Musical, Anything Goes, Into the Woods, Beauty and the Beast, Kiss Me Kate!, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Annie, The Music Man, Peter Pan, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The Wizard of Oz, and The Sound of Music. Lisë also directs the Kingston Catholic School musicals each spring. Past KCS shows include Beauty and the Beast Jr., The King and I, Annie, Jr., Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr., Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Jr., and Guys and Dolls, Jr. Lisë served as the choir director and soloist at St. Peter’s Church in Rosendale for 29 years. With her eldest daughter Becca she teaches the “Broadway Bound” theatre program for young people ages 7 to 14 on Saturdays here at Coleman, with a 2-week all-day workshop each June. In July and August Lise directs the Dutchess Community College Summer Performing Arts Institute for kids and teens in Poughkeepsie.
As a professional actress, singer, dancer, and model (in her former life!), Lisë performed in musicals, plays, and operettas off-Broadway, in regional theatre, summer stock, on TV, in print ads and commercials, and on the resort stages of the Catskills and Poconos. She holds a BA from Harvard University, and a Master’s Degree in Psychology. Lisë profusely thanks all the parents of past, present, and future Coleman students who contribute so generously and faithfully to these musicals in so many ways. She thanks the students themselves for their boundless enthusiasm and willingness. Last, but never least, she thanks her wonderfully loving and friendly family, her husband Jack, and her supportive family of friends.
